Hiatus

As you know, Ugly Duckling hasn't been really moving anywhere for a while now. We're sorry but we've decided to put things off for quite a bit. We're having our exams. With the school's exam, national exam, the CIE's A Levels, the University Entrance exams, Yearbook committee and Prom committee, we are sorry if the site has been put off since one or two months back. We will try to keep posting new posts, and we're really sory for the inconvenience. 


Nevertheless,

THE SITE WILL FULLY RESUME ON JULY.

Books in, movies on pause...

Hi guys! We're here for a quick update. First of all, we're sorry because we were late to post the 'What's on March 2011' post. We are busy, caught up with the things around us nowadays. Our final examination starts today and it will be on going for around two weeks. We are telling you beforehand, unfortunately we may be late or even not posting anything for a while. If we get the time, we will post because we also want to post something for you readers.

Meanwhile, we got some pretty serious collection of movies that you can.... educate yourself with! We've selected our favorite movies that are related to school and school-themed. Here are the set of movies:

New Grading System

Hello, dear readers! It's nice to finally be able to blog again.


So here's the deal, we've been thinking about this and we're revising the previous ranking in the grading system. As you all know, we have the Stages of Beauty, and that won't be changed. Every range of score will exactly be the same from 'Ugly Duckling' to 'Royal Swan' to keep up with our avian concept.


Alright, we all know now that the movies reviewed are all based on five categories, which are PLOT, PERFORMANCE, VISUAL, MUSIC and SCRIPT WRITING. All of them carries the weight of 20% EACH and adds up to a total score of 100%, the overall score of the movie. 


Now, we are introducing new weights for the categories. The categories will be five and nothing's changed, but the weight they carry will be fixed. We feel that there's a little injustice so we're presenting you the changed and (we hope) a better weight. Here's the weight we've been using before, listed below:


PERFORMANCE:  20%   
PLOT: 20%   
SCRIPT WRITING: 20%
VISUALS: 20%
MUSIC: 20%


We're now presenting you the new grading system, the new weighing of the categories for the categories:

PERFORMANCE:  25%  

PLOT: 25%  

SCRIPT WRITING: 20%

VISUALS: 20%

MUSIC: 10%

All of the percentages will add up to 100%, thus the final overall score of the movie will be created. We feel that this new one is more fair and more adjusted to the whole thing. It fits better and we feel that it's more reasonable. If you have any suggestion, you all are welcome to say something by commenting this post below. Thank you.

First Quack

Hi everyone! This is a little project that we are working on. A blog about movies - from our point of view. This blog will be our little pet project to give YOU the much needed information related to movies, and also to give ourselves a room to write about something we love. We have like gazillion of ideas swimming in our mind and we can't wait to share it with you guys (until we figure out how this blogging thingy works too). 


And a little more to share, what has 'Ugly Duckling' to do with movie? Okay, so, basically we just simply wanna say that all movies in general are great, though some still need some major/minor improvements in order for them to become a real 'Beautiful Swan'☺ Anyways we are thanking you.
